Program Overview: What is health and what does a “healthier you” look like? To some, it may be better sleep quality, eating healthier, nutritional awareness, making time for exercise, or self-care. It can be taking control of pre-conditions such as learning to lower blood pressure, prevent or manage diabetes, pain maintenance, or other medical pre-conditions. Everyone’s wellness journey is unique and we are ready to walk with you in finding your version of a “healthier and happier you” through this 4 week member wellness challenge that will assist member’s in becoming a consistent exerciser.
Program Components:
1. Initial Registration:
- Duration: 20 minutes
- Cost: $10
- During registration, members will complete a medical history questionnaire.
- The Fitness Director will evaluate the questionnaire to determine if a medical clearance form from a physician is required.
- If a medical clearance form is required, the Fitness Director will contact the member’s physician. Once the medical clearance form is completed and returned, the Fitness Director will reach out to the member to schedule the first Phase Consultation.
- If a medical clearance form is not required, the Fitness Director will reach out to the member to schedule the first Phase Consultation.
- With the completion of your initial registration, you will receive credits to schedule all 12 of your Succeed Fitness Sessions.
2. Regular Workout Sessions (Weeks 1-4):
- Duration: 30 minutes each
- Spread across 12 sessions (ideally 3 sessions per week)
- Cardiovascular exercises like walking, jogging, and cycling are included to improve cardiovascular fitness and endurance.
- Strength training exercises, using body weight and/or light weights to help enhance muscular strength, will be added.
3. Barriers and Mindset:
- The program emphasizes recognizing and overcoming exercise barriers, such as time constraints and motivational challenges.
- Strategies to maintain consistency and stay motivated are discussed in sessions.
- Accountability coaching will spend time on a short reflection of lifestyle awareness to help with success planning.
- Weekly workout reflections will be completed to acknowledge self awareness of progress.
4. Completion and T-Shirt Reward (Week 4):
- During the final week, participants complete a final fitness assessment to measure their progress.
- As a reward for their dedication, participants receive a unique YMCA workout t-shirt, symbolizing their accomplishment.
Benefits: The program offers several benefits, including improved physical fitness, increased knowledge about exercise, enhanced goal-setting and barrier-breaking skills, better stress management, and a supportive community atmosphere.
