Gymnastics Classes

The Gymnastics facility is located at 4472 Valnorth Dr, Valdosta, GA  31602 off of exit 22.

Our Valdosta YMCA has an outstanding recreational program as well as a competitive gymnastics team! The recreational Gymnastics program offers an opportunity for youngsters of all ages and abilities a chance to be their best while learning self discipline and having fun.

Our 14,000 square foot Air conditioned facility includes a full viewing spectator area and is fully equipped for children of all ability levels.

Athletes are split by age and level into small groups  6:1. Classes are not free play.  Athletes will rotate to each event and focus on skills and drills using our progressive skill chart system based on the USA Gymnastics guidelines.  Each child is continually evaluated and as they master skills they move up within the program.

Pre-school – ages 3-4 – (Co-ed) Experience gymnastics through obstacle course activities on floor, uneven parallel bars, balance beams, trampoline and pit.  Must be potty trained.

Girls Level 1 – ages 5 – 17 – Learn the basics of gymnastics on Vault, bars, beam and floor, trampoline and pit.

Boys – ages 5 – 13 – Learn the basics of gymnastics on Vault, p-bars, high bar, mushroom, pommel horse, rings, floor, trampoline and pit.

Girls Level 2 – 4:  ages 5 – 17:  MUST  have prior approval to register at these levels using the current  Valdosta YMCA Gymnastics  Skill chart system.

Although the majority of our program athletes participate in the recreational program, the YMCA also offers a Gymnastics Team.   The team provides participants with the opportunity to engage in gymnastics at a competitive level. Competition is exciting and challenges the gymnast physically, mentally, and emotionally. Participation on the competitive team level is determined by the coach and depends on the skill level of the gymnast and their willingness and desire to train.

The YMCA offers a variety of special events including:  Friday Frolic, Kids Night Out, Parties, Field Trips, Summer and Holiday Camps.

• Dress Code for girls is a one-piece leotard without a skirt or ruffle attached.
• Shorts permitted (no buttons or zippers)
• Hair must be pulled up off shoulders and no dangling jewelry
• Boys/Tumbler- t shirt tucked in and shorts without buttons or zippers
• Please bring a labeled thermos or bottled water
• I understand that this is not a licensed child care facility and I also understand this program is not required to be licensed by The Ga Dept of Early Care & Learning and is exempt from state licensure requirements

How to Register:

To enroll in classes, simply call the gym(229-244-3409) and pay to reserve your first month fees plus the registration fees. For online registration, you must call the gym BEFORE you pay to secure a specific class – due to limited availability, online registration is not currently open.  Please call the gym to register.

Online registration -can not apply the sibling discount – or waive registration fees and can not pro rate if you start after the first week of the month.  First responders and military registration fees are waived with ID.
